Quiet Geometry | CAZAL 7093 Custom Gradient Photochromic Lenses

Not every distinctive frame needs an equally loud lens.

For Winston’s CAZAL 7093, the objective was to elevate the frame without overwhelming the geometry that made him choose it. He wanted something interesting and considered, but not overly avant-garde.

The result is Quiet Geometry: a bespoke smoky-grey gradient that remains subtle indoors before developing into a deeper khaki-green expression outside.

The brief

Winston was drawn to the CAZAL 7093 for its geometric lens shape, architectural double bridge and unmistakable CAZAL detailing.

Although the frame appears relatively minimal at first, its proportions and construction already create a strong identity. A highly expressive lens could easily have competed with that design.

The lenses therefore needed to:

• Enhance the geometry of the frame

• Introduce some mystery without hiding the eyes

• Provide gentle shading for everyday wear

• Remain refined rather than theatrical

• Develop greater depth and character outdoors

A smoky-grey gradient

The permanent lens colour begins with a smoky-grey tint across the upper portion of the lens before gradually fading toward clear below.

The upper density gives the eyes a little shade and creates a more composed appearance. As the tint becomes lighter through the lower lens, the eyewear remains open, versatile and comfortable for everyday use.

Rather than changing the identity of the CAZAL 7093, the gradient reveals more of what was already there. It emphasises the upper line, double bridge and geometric construction while working naturally with the frame’s matte finish.

From a distance, the effect is restrained. Viewed more closely, the controlled graduation gives the frame greater depth and a subtle sense of mystery.

The outdoor transformation

The smoky-grey base was paired with Marma Dinamica Green photochromic technology.

When the lenses activate outside, the grey and green layers combine to create a deeper khaki tone. This is not a bright or conventional green. It feels earthy, architectural and quietly masculine.

The transformation gives Winston a darker outdoor lens while preserving the refined character of the frame. Indoors, the design remains subtle and open. Outside, it becomes richer, warmer and more substantial.

It is a change that feels natural rather than theatrical.

Finished with Elite MAR

An Elite MAR finish completes the composition.

Instead of introducing an obvious flash mirror, the coating creates delicate warm reflections when light catches the lens. These subtle surface hues complement the khaki activation while adding movement and polish to the otherwise restrained design.

Most of the time, the finish remains discreet. It only reveals itself from certain angles, allowing the detailing to be discovered rather than immediately announced.

The final eyewear remains unmistakably CAZAL, but the relationship between the frame and lenses now feels complete. What initially appears to be a geometric double-bridge frame gradually reveals colour, changing density and reflected warmth as the light moves around it.

Crafted around the wearer

Lens Art® is not about selecting a fashionable tint and placing it into every frame.

Can CAZAL frames be fitted with custom tinted lenses?

Many CAZAL frames can be fitted with bespoke tinted, photochromic or prescription lenses, subject to an inspection of the frame, prescription and chosen lens construction.

Can a gradient tint be combined with photochromic lenses?

Yes, depending on the selected lens technology and material. A permanent gradient can provide subtle colour indoors while the photochromic layer develops greater density outside.
