COLOUR THAT EVOLVES WITH LIGHT

More Than a Standard Photochromic Lens

Most photochromic lenses begin with a colour selected from a catalogue.

Lens Art® begins with the person.

We consider your frame, prescription, lifestyle, colour preferences and the environments in which your eyewear will be worn. We then design a bespoke combination of custom tint, photochromic technology and digital lens design.

The result is an adaptive lens that feels considered indoors, outdoors and throughout every stage between.

Designed, Not Selected

A base tint may look beautiful on its own.

A photochromic colour may perform brilliantly on its own.

But the Lens Art® Signature comes from understanding how the two interact with the frame, the prescription, the wearer and the changing light.

Most people choose lenses.

Lens Art® designs them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Transitions® lenses be customised with colour?

Yes, although the options depend on the technology selected.
While a custom tint cannot usually be applied directly to most Transitions® lenses in the same way as Marma Dinamica, Essilor's Colour Touch collection allows selected fashion tints to be combined with Transitions® lenses. This creates a subtle coloured appearance indoors while retaining the adaptive benefits of Transitions® outdoors. During your Lens Art® consultation, we'll recommend the most suitable solution based on your prescription, frame and desired colour.

Can Marma Dinamica be combined with a bespoke tint?

Absolutely, Marma Dinamica lenses can be incorporated into a custom colour design. Any base tint and Dinamica photochromic colour can be combined together.

Can ZEISS PhotoFusion X be combined with a custom tint?

In some cases, yes, but it depends on the specific PhotoFusion X product and the lens manufacturing process.

Standard ZEISS PhotoFusion X lenses are supplied in predetermined adaptive colours. While bespoke tinting may be possible in certain situations, it is not as widely available or flexible as some alternative technologies.

For clients seeking a wider range of custom colour possibilities, ZEISS PhotoFusion X AdaptiveSun provides an excellent solution, combining adaptive performance with stylish sunglass-inspired colours.

During your Lens Art® consultation, we'll recommend the most suitable technology based on your prescription, chosen frame and the visual experience you're looking to create.

What is the difference between a standard photochromic lens and a Lens Art® Signature design?

A standard photochromic lens is normally selected in a predetermined colour. A Lens Art® Signature design considers the frame, prescription, base tint, photochromic colour, lens design and finish as one complete visual experience.

Can you reglaze a frame I already own?

Yes. Luxury reglazing is central to Lens Art®. Your frame may have been purchased from us, another specialist or directly from a designer. We assess every frame before confirming the work.

Can you create progressive or varifocal photochromic lenses?

Yes. Custom tinted photochromic designs can be created using single vision, relaxed-focus, occupational and progressive lens designs, subject to the prescription, frame and chosen technology.

Can I send my frame from outside the UK?

Yes. We work with clients throughout the UK and internationally. The process begins with a remote consultation, followed by guidance on securely sending your frame to The Optical Gallery.

Which photochromic technology is best?

There is no single technology that is best for everyone. Transitions®, Marma Dinamica and ZEISS PhotoFusion X each offer different colour characteristics and performance qualities. The right option depends on the frame, prescription, lifestyle and desired visual experience.
