Already have the frame?
Most people know Transitions® as lenses that automatically darken in sunlight.
At Lens Art®, we see them as the beginning of a personalised lens design.
Rather than selecting a standard photochromic lens, we create bespoke compositions around your frame, prescription and how you experience light.
Depending on your design, this may include Transitions® GEN S™, bespoke custom tinting, luxury reglazing, premium coatings and carefully selected finishing touches that work together as one complete visual experience.
Technology should support the design, not define it.

More Than Standard Transitions®
Most people know Transitions® as lenses that automatically darken in sunlight.
At Lens Art®, we see them as the beginning of a much more personal design process.
Every Lens Art® commission starts by understanding the person behind the frame.
Your lifestyle, prescription, eyewear, colour preferences and how you experience light all influence the final design.
Rather than simply selecting a standard photochromic lens, we create a bespoke lens composition using carefully chosen technologies that work together to achieve your desired visual experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Transitions® lenses be custom tinted?
Yes. Selected Transitions® GEN S™ lenses can be combined with bespoke custom tints of up to approximately 30% absorption. To achieve the most natural result, the permanent tint is carefully matched to the underlying photochromic colour.
What's the difference between Transitions® GEN S™ and XTRActive®?
Transitions® GEN S™ is designed for fast everyday adaptation and is our preferred platform for bespoke custom tinting.
Transitions® XTRActive® is designed for enhanced darkness, including activation behind a car windscreen, and is currently available in its standard Grey, Brown and Graphite Green (G15) colour options.
During your consultation, we'll recommend the most appropriate option based on your prescription, lifestyle and the visual experience you're hoping to create.
Can I have Transitions® lenses in my existing frame?
Absolutely.
Many Lens Art® commissions involve reglazing existing luxury, vintage and collector eyewear. Whether your frame came from The Optical Gallery or another specialist anywhere in the world, we can create bespoke Transitions® lenses designed specifically for it.
Can Transitions® lenses be combined with other Lens Art® treatments?
Yes.
Depending on your commission, Transitions® can be combined with bespoke custom tinting, premium coatings, flash mirror finishes and other Lens Art® design elements to create a personalised lens composition.
Are Transitions® lenses available in prescription?
Yes.
Transitions® lenses are available in prescription and non-prescription options, including single vision, occupational and progressive lenses.
Every recommendation is individually tailored to your prescription, frame and visual requirements.
Do I need to visit The Optical Gallery?
Not necessarily.
Many Lens Art® commissions are completed remotely for clients throughout the UK and internationally.
We'll arrange a complimentary consultation before guiding you through the next steps, including securely sending your frame to us for glazing.
How do I begin?
Simply tell us about your frame.
If possible, include:
- Your frame (if you already have one)
- Your prescription (if available)
- Whether you require single vision, occupational or progressive lenses
- A brief idea of what you're hoping to create
We'll then arrange a complimentary consultation to explore the possibilities together.
I don't know which option is right for me. Can you help?
Absolutely.
Most Lens Art® clients begin with an idea rather than a finished specification.
The consultation is designed to understand your frame, prescription, lifestyle and personal preferences before recommending the most appropriate lens composition.
Our role isn't simply to supply lenses.
It's to help you discover the design that's right for you.
