LENS ART®

Already have the frame?

Whether your eyewear is part of a carefully built collection, a favourite everyday frame or a piece you've been searching for, Lens Art® allows you to commission bespoke flash mirror lenses designed specifically for your eyewear.

Every project begins with a complimentary consultation where we explore your prescription, lifestyle and the visual experience you're hoping to create before recommending a personalised lens design.

From subtle mirror finishes to bold reflective statements, every Lens Art® commission is individually designed around your frame, the person wearing it and the way you want your eyewear to feel.

Preserve the frame. Redesign the experience.

More Than a Mirror Finish

A mirror coating isn't simply an aesthetic finish.

When carefully combined with the right lens, tint and prescription, it becomes another layer of the Lens Art® commission.

Some commissions use a mirror to create subtle reflections.

Others use it to enhance colour, increase visual presence or complete the character of the frame.

The right mirror isn't chosen in isolation.

It's designed as part of the complete lens composition.

What becomes possible

Close-up of vintage Tiffany Lunettes eyewear reglazed with bespoke brown gradient prescription lenses featuring Transitions® GEN S Brown photochromic technology and a custom gold flash mirror by Lens Art®.

Mirror Over Custom Tints

A flash mirror can transform the character of a custom tinted lens, adding subtle reflections and depth while allowing the underlying colour to remain part of the overall design. The result is a lens that feels layered, refined and completely individual.

Mirror Over Photochromic Lenses

Mirror finishes can be combined with carefully selected photochromic technologies to create eyewear that evolves beautifully throughout the day. Indoors, the lenses remain elegant and understated. Outdoors, the mirror and photochromic layers work together to create a striking transformation.

Mirror With Gradient Lenses

Applying a flash mirror over a bespoke gradient creates a sophisticated interplay between reflection and transparency. The mirror enhances the visual character of the lens while allowing the gradient to reveal different tones as the light changes.

Mirror With Bespoke Colour

Flash mirrors don't have to stand alone. They can become the finishing layer of a complete Lens Art® composition, combining custom colours, gradients and specialist finishes to create a lens that complements both the frame and the person wearing it.

PREMIUM ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATINGS

Clarity, Protection and the Final Cosmetic Detail

An anti-reflective coating is not simply an optional extra added after the lenses have been designed.

It can reduce distracting surface reflections, improve the clarity of the lenses, support easier cleaning and help protect the finished lens during everyday wear.

The residual reflection of a coating also contributes to the appearance of the eyewear. Gold, blue, green and more neutral reflections can interact differently with a clear lens, custom tint, photochromic colour or flash mirror finish.

Through Lens Art®, the coating is selected as part of the complete reglazing commission. We consider the frame, prescription, lens material, colour design, lifestyle and desired cosmetic appearance before recommending the most appropriate finish.

The coating is both an optical layer and a design layer.

Leading Lens Technologies

Premium Lens Coatings We Design With

Marma Premium Coatings

Marma offers a range of premium anti-reflective coatings designed for different visual experiences and cosmetic finishes.

Depending on the commission, we may recommend technologies such as Elite MAR, Crystal Elite, Blue Crystal, Glamour or Drive.

Each provides a different balance of clarity, durability, reflection colour and cosmetic appearance.

These coatings are frequently combined with bespoke custom tints, Marma Dinamica photochromic technologies, flash mirrors and personalised digital lens designs as part of a complete Lens Art® composition.

ZEISS DuraVision Coatings

ZEISS DuraVision coatings are recognised worldwide for their optical clarity, durability and ease of cleaning.

Lens Art® commissions may incorporate premium ZEISS coating technologies including DuraVision Gold UV, DuraVision Platinum UV and BlueProtect where appropriate.

These coatings can be combined with ZEISS PhotoFusion X, PhotoFusion X AdaptiveSun, prescription sunglasses and bespoke lens designs to create lenses that perform beautifully while maintaining a refined cosmetic appearance.

Essilor Crizal Coatings

Essilor's Crizal family of premium coatings has become one of the world's most recognised anti-reflective technologies.

Depending on the visual requirements of the wearer, Lens Art® may recommend Crizal Sapphire HR, Crizal Rock, Crizal Easy Pro or other suitable coatings.

When combined with bespoke tinting, flash mirrors or premium lens designs, these coatings help create durable, easy-to-clean lenses with excellent optical clarity.

IOT Digital Lens Design

IOT is recognised for advanced digital freeform lens design rather than anti-reflective coatings.

Many Lens Art® commissions combine IOT digital lens designs with premium coating technologies from leading manufacturers, allowing optical performance and cosmetic finishing to work together as one complete visual experience.

This flexibility allows every reglazing commission to be individually tailored rather than restricted to a single manufacturer's ecosystem.

Combining Premium Technologies

One of the defining characteristics of Lens Art® is the ability to combine multiple premium technologies within a single bespoke commission.

A custom tint may be paired with a premium anti-reflective coating, photochromic technology, flash mirror, digital freeform lens design and luxury reglazing to create a lens that is individually composed around the wearer.

Rather than selecting products independently, every element is chosen to work together as one finished design.

QUESTIONS WE'RE OFTEN ASKED

Frequently Asked Questions

Can flash mirrors be added to prescription lenses?

Yes. Flash mirrors can be incorporated into many prescription lens designs, including single vision, occupational and progressive lenses, depending on the chosen lens material and intended design.

Every Lens Art® commission is individually assessed to ensure the mirror finish complements both the prescription and the overall lens composition.

Can flash mirrors be combined with custom tinted lenses?

Absolutely.

Many of our bespoke commissions combine flash mirrors with custom solid tints, gradients, bi-colour and tri-gradient lens designs to create a unique visual appearance.

The mirror is always selected to complement the underlying colour rather than overpower it.

Can flash mirrors be combined with photochromic lenses?

Yes.

Depending on the chosen technology, flash mirrors can often be combined with photochromic lens designs including Marma Dinamica, Transitions®, Transitions® XTRActive, ZEISS PhotoFusion X and PhotoFusion X AdaptiveSun.

Every combination is individually designed around the frame, prescription and intended visual experience.

Which anti-reflective coating is best?

There isn't one coating that's best for everyone.

Different premium coatings offer different advantages in clarity, durability, ease of cleaning, cosmetic appearance and specialist visual performance.

During your Lens Art® consultation we'll recommend the coating that best suits your frame, lifestyle and chosen lens design.

Can you reglaze my own frame?

Yes.

Many of our clients send us their own eyewear from around the UK and internationally.

Whether your frame is Jacques Marie Mage, Chrome Hearts, Cartier, Matsuda, DITA, AHLEM, Masunaga or another exceptional brand, we'll assess it before creating a bespoke Lens Art® commission around it.

Do you work with ZEISS, Marma, Essilor, Transitions® and IOT?

Yes.

Lens Art® is designed around the individual rather than a single manufacturer.

Depending on the commission, we may recommend technologies from ZEISS, Marma, Essilor, Transitions®, IOT and other premium manufacturers to create the most appropriate finished lens.

Can I send my frame from outside the UK?

Yes.

Lens Art® regularly works with clients internationally.

After your consultation we'll provide straightforward instructions explaining how to safely package and send your frame for luxury reglazing before returning it fully insured.
