Already have the frame?
Whether your eyewear is part of a carefully built collection, a vintage discovery or simply a frame you'll never want to replace, Lens Art® allows you to commission bespoke custom tinted prescription lenses designed specifically for the eyewear you already love.
Your frame may have been purchased from The Optical Gallery, another specialist retailer or directly from the designer. Wherever it came from, if it matters to you, we'll treat it with the care it deserves.
Every project begins with a complimentary consultation where we explore your prescription, lifestyle and the visual experience you're hoping to create before recommending a personalised lens design.
From subtle everyday tints to expressive colour compositions, every Lens Art® commission is individually designed around your frame, the person wearing it and the way you want your eyewear to feel.
Preserve the frame. Redesign the experience.

More Than Standard Tinted Lenses
A standard tinted lens changes colour.
A Lens Art® commission changes the relationship between the frame, the wearer and the way the eyewear is experienced.
Whether you're looking for a subtle everyday tint or something far more expressive, every lens is individually designed around your prescription, lifestyle and the character of your frame.
Because exceptional eyewear deserves more than a standard tint.
Particularly suited to
✓ Existing luxury frames
✓ Collector eyewear
✓ Everyday wear
✓ Prescription & non-prescription
✓ Single vision & progressive lenses
Handcrafted Colour Design
Colour is developed with intention.
From subtle fashion tints to complex multi-layered compositions, every commission is built around the finished appearance of the eyewear rather than selecting a standard sunglass colour.
Small refinements in density, balance and transition can completely transform how a frame feels once worn.
Before we recommend a single lens technology, we consider:
-
Your Frame
Its design, materials and character.
-
Your Vision
Your prescription and visual priorities.
-
Your Lifestyle
How and where you'll wear your eyewear.
-
Your Design Direction
The colours and visual experience you're hoping to create.
Only then do we begin designing your Lens Art® commission.
What becomes possible
Every Lens Art commission may include carefully considered combinations such as:
-
Solid Tints
A single, carefully controlled colour applied across the full lens.
Solid tints can be created in anything from a barely visible fashion tone to a deeper prescription sunglass density, depending on the lens material, prescription and intended use. -
Gradient Tints
A controlled transition from deeper colour at the top of the lens to a lighter finish below.
Gradient prescription lenses can soften the appearance of a frame, create classic sunglass styling and provide a more open visual experience for everyday wear. -
Bi-Colour Lens Designs
Two colours brought together within one lens design.
The relationship can be subtle and tonal or deliberately contrasting, allowing the lenses to respond to the frame’s materials, detailing and overall character. -
Tri-Colour Lens Designs
Three individually considered colours blended across the lens to create a more expressive and artistic result.
Tri-colour designs are created as complete compositions rather than separate colour bands, with each transition refined around the lens shape and frame.
Not sure which direction is right?

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you tint prescription lenses?
Yes.
Lens Art® allows us to create bespoke custom tinted lenses in both prescription and non-prescription forms. Whether you require single vision, occupational or progressive lenses, every commission is individually designed around your prescription, your frame and the visual experience you're hoping to create.
Can I use my own frame?
Absolutely.
Many of our clients already own the frame they love. Whether it was purchased from The Optical Gallery, another specialist retailer or directly from the designer, we can create bespoke custom tinted lenses through our luxury reglazing service.
How do I choose the right tint?
Every Lens Art® commission begins with a complimentary consultation.
Rather than choosing a colour from a chart, we'll discuss your prescription, lifestyle, frame and personal preferences before recommending a bespoke tint designed specifically for you.
Collapsible row
Do I need to visit you in person?
Not at all.
Many Lens Art® commissions are completed remotely for clients across the UK and internationally.
We'll guide you through the consultation, discuss your ideas, and once your design has been finalised you can securely send your frame to us for glazing before it is carefully returned.
Can you create something completely bespoke?
Yes.
From subtle everyday tints to expressive colour combinations, every Lens Art® commission is individually designed rather than selected from a standard catalogue.
Our role is to create lenses that complement both your frame and the way you experience the world.
How do I begin?
Simply tell us about your frame.
If possible, include:
• Your frame (if you already have one)
• Your prescription (if available)
• Whether you require single vision, occupational or progressive lenses
• A brief idea of what you'd like to create
We'll then arrange a complimentary consultation to explore the possibilities together.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add custom tints to prescription lenses?
Yes. Lens Art® creates bespoke custom tinted prescription lenses for single vision, occupational and progressive prescriptions, subject to the chosen lens material, prescription and frame.
Can you reglaze my own frame?
Many of our clients already own exceptional eyewear from brands such as Jacques Marie Mage, Chrome Hearts, Cartier, Matsuda, AHLEM and DITA.
If your frame is suitable for reglazing, we'll design new lenses around it while treating it with the care it deserves.
Can I choose any lens colour?
We offer an extensive range of bespoke colours, gradients and multi-colour designs.
The final recommendation will always consider your prescription, frame, lens material and intended use to ensure the best possible result.
Can custom tints be combined with photochromic technology?
Yes.
Many Lens Art® commissions combine bespoke colour with adaptive technologies such as Transitions®, Marma Dinamica and ZEISS PhotoFusion X, depending on the desired visual outcome.
Can I have progressive custom tinted lenses?
Yes.
Progressive, occupational and single vision lenses can all be individually designed with bespoke tinting, allowing colour and optical performance to work together.
Can you create prescription sunglasses?
Yes.
We regularly create bespoke prescription sunglasses using custom tints, gradients, polarised lenses, flash mirrors and photochromic technologies, depending on your lifestyle and visual requirements.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes.
Lens Art® works with clients throughout the UK and internationally.
Many clients send us their own frames for luxury reglazing before we return the completed eyewear via tracked courier.
How do I begin a Lens Art® commission?

We'll discuss your frame, prescription, lifestyle, colour preferences and visual goals before recommending a bespoke lens design that's uniquely yours.
